STAND UP for YOUR COMMUNITY and WORKERS RIGHTS!

Join us for the kick-off of the new Colorado Labor Education Collabortive. The evening includes a film screening of the award-winning documentary A Day's Work, as we look at what all of us Coloradans are getting for a day's work.

FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Doors open at 5:30pm and the film begins at 6pm. The 54-minute film will be followed by a panel discussion on workers' rights and public policy, connecting the film to local issues and action. Audience members will have an opportunity to engage with community leaders, organizers, workers, UC Denver faculty, and the film's executive producer.

About the film: What happened to Day Davis? 90 minutes before he was killed on his first day of work as a temporary employee, Day texted a picture of himself to his girlfriend, excited for their future. Day's sister searches for answers as an investigation reveals a hidden epidemic of injury and death on the job threatening millions of American workers. www.TempFilm.com

About the Hosts:

Colorado Labor Education Collaborative is a new multidisciplinary effort that brings together labor educators at UC Denver, unions, advocacy groups, and working people to address the concerns of our working-class communities.

Towards Justice empowers America’s chronically marginalized workforce to address systemic injustice, defend family financial stability, and ensure that work is the most effective strategy for economic success in our country. It serves as a clearinghouse that helps expand access to justice by connecting workers to appropriate legal resources, and educating workers about legal resources in the community. http://www.towardsjustice.org/

Colorado Jobs with Justice is a long-term, formal coalition of labor, community, faith, and student and youth organizations that come together to advance workers' rights and social justice through building sustained relationships and taking direct action to create concrete change in the lives of working families. WE ARE FOR living wages, health care for ALL, fair trade, immigrant rights, Global Justice, fair wages, safe working conditions, equal pay, unions, Worker POWER, corporate accountability, climate justice, green jobs, racial EQUITY, student power, refugee rights, transit justice, job security, international solidarity, organizing the unorganized, and JOBS WITH JUSTICE! http://www.cojwj.org/

The Denver Newspaper Guild, Communication Workers of America (CWA Local 37074) is a union of 1,500 Colorado newspaper employees and employees working for unions and nonprofit organizations in the state. Membership is a diverse group, but has a common bond in the belief that respect for workers’ rights builds stronger jobs and stronger communities. http://denvernewspaperguild.org/

The Romero Theater Troupe creates social justice through organic theater in Denver. A People's History of Colorado is our attempt to introduce the general public to our state history "from below," or through the lens of those who did not enjoy political, economic, cultural, or social privilege. When we look at history from this perspective, we find important untold stories. http://romerotroupe.org/
